Concussion

While I wasn't so busy over the winter I decided to learn to snowboard. I read all kinds of things about geezers learning to snowboard in their 4th and 5th decades and I thought THAT CAN BE ME. Well...uh...no it can't and it won't be.

I still think I did everything I was supposed to. I wore all kinds of protective clothing - a helmet, wrist guards, tail bone pads. Plus, I took lessons and only went on the bunny hill at Mt. Brighton. Nevertheless, I ended up taking an ambulance ride from Brighton to U of M Hospital where I was admitted for 3 days while I was given repeated CAT scans to see if there was bleeding in my brain. Thankfully, there was none and even more thankfully, I don't remember any of this. I haven't had a single drink in 22 years and I still managed TO HAVE A BLACKOUT!

My partner Joe, took vacation time to stay with my while I was in the hospital and my friends Anita and Michael checked in on me daily for my first week back home. The week in the hospital was January 13th and I'm pretty much back to normal now. My memory is OK though my balance isn't perfect and I am more prone to naps than I used to be. I'm still hoping and planning on being back in business in mid-April.
